Florida Vegetable Gardening: Friends and Foes
Speakers: Fran Boettcher and Adrienne Barton
It’s never too late to plant a vegetable garden. This month you can start planning that garden and Fran and Adrienne will tell us how to take into account companion planting, solar orientation, and maximizing your garden space.
Adrienne Barton, a former educator, managed the Winter Park Vegetable Garden adjacent to Mead Botanical Garden for nine years. She volunteers her time at two Orange County schools with the Headstart Gardening Program, which educates children about the awareness and benefits of growing vegetables. Fran Boettcher, a master gardener, has co-authored a series of educational workshops on butterfly gardening and landscape design. She is actively involved in the Headstart Vegetable Gardening program. Fran considers gardening both an art and science, as it’s about creativity, research, and experimentation.
