September 19, 2025 kicks off our garden club season!!  Educational programs each month and are open to the public.

Speaker: Pastor Vance Rains

Bonsai

Vance Rains grew up in Orlando. He has a degree in Communications/Public Speaking from UCF, a Masters of Divinity from Duke University, a Doctoral degree from Asbury Theological Seminary, and a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from St. Thomas University. He is the Lead Pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Orlando.

Vance was first introduced to gardening in high school when he worked at the Palmer Seed and Feed Store on Church Street. He will define what Bonsai is and give a brief history. We will learn about the primary features, different styles, and needs of bonsai. Vance will bring examples from his personal collection.
